The Brief
Challenge
Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen) is the power generation arm of the country's largest private distribution utility, with a 2,422 MW portfolio spanning coal, natural gas, diesel, and solar. Its 2023 annual report had to hold two truths at once — the scale and reliability of a major baseload provider, and a credible commitment to a 1,500 MW renewable energy goal — for investors, regulators, and the public alike.
Approach
We built the report around its theme, Shaping the Country's Energy Future, structuring the narrative so that today's operational strength leads naturally into tomorrow's energy transition. The reader moves from company profile and financial highlights, through the Chairman's and President's messages, to operations and sustainability — each section reinforcing MGen's balance of reliability, affordability, and sustainability.
Design Solution
A confident editorial grid organizes dense operational and financial data — gross capacity by plant, energy sales, consolidated core net income — into clear, legible statements. Infographics translate the portfolio and renewable pipeline into visual terms, while photography of generation facilities grounds the figures in real infrastructure. The palette pairs industrial authority with the optimism of a greener trajectory.
The Work
MGen's 2023 annual report had to carry both the scale of a 2,422 MW generation portfolio and a credible path toward 1,500 MW of renewable energy — reliability and renewal in a single document.
We structured the report around its theme, Shaping the Country's Energy Future, moving from today's operational strength into tomorrow's energy transition, with data organized for absolute clarity.
The result reads as the statement of a company confident in its role in powering the nation's progress — and in leading its shift to cleaner, greener energy.

Outcome
The report gave MGen a cohesive annual publication that positions it as a leader in the Philippines' energy transition — communicating a banner year of recovery and renewable investment, and a clear ambition to reach 10,400 MW of gross capacity by 2028, with the clarity its stakeholders expect.
