The Brief
Challenge
As Miriam College marked its centennial, its alumni association set out to honor a century of formation — from the pioneering Maryknoll Sisters to generations of graduates. The book had to hold a shared institutional history and hundreds of individual lives at once, speaking to alumni who bear different names on their diplomas but one enduring tradition.
Approach
We framed the volume as a homecoming rather than a chronicle. Working with the association's editors and writers, we structured the narrative around the values at the heart of a Maryknoll/Miriam education — truth, justice, peace, and service — letting beloved teachers, enduring friendships, and defining moments carry the story.
Design Solution
The design pairs archival and contemporary photography with warm, unhurried typography, giving a century of memory room to breathe. Alumni portraits and personal stories sit alongside institutional milestones, and considered materials and binding make the finished volume a keepsake meant to be held and passed on.
The Work
Miriam College's centennial called for more than a history — it needed a homecoming, a volume alumni across generations would recognize as their own.
We built the book around the values of a Maryknoll/Miriam formation, weaving archival photography, alumni portraits, and personal stories into a single enduring narrative.
The result honors the Sisters who began the journey and the generations who carried it forward — the legacy, given permanent form.
